🔸 What does “HDR Grading Under Review” mean?
It means the title shows signs of limited HDR quality — such as low MaxCLL/FALL values, no visible dynamic range or results that resemble SDR.
🔸 Is this the same as “Fake HDR”?
“Fake HDR” is a common term in AV circles to describe weak HDR implementations. We use “under review” to reflect technical red flags without making assumptions about intent.
🔸 What kind of data is used to flag these?
We analyze HDR metadata (Peak/Average Brightness), Dolby Vision presence, comparing against 4K Blu-Ray disc or iTunes versions. If a version appears inferior or suspicious, it’s flagged.
🔸 Can a Dolby Vision title still be weak?
Yes. Dolby Vision doesn’t guarantee quality. Some DV streams may still have low brightness values or weak tone mapping.
🔸 Are these judgements final?
No. A flagged title may still have artistic intent or future revisions. This page helps surface titles worth a second look — not to shame them.
🔸 Will this page be updated?
Yes. Titles may be added or removed as new streams, metadata or 4K Blu-ray disc comparisons become available.
